Micro Soccer

This fall season, Tri City Soccer will be moving to a micro soccer recreational program for all players. The spring season will return to the full sided practices and games for U10 and up.

Why MICRO SOCCER?

Pickup games which allow for free play have long since been replaced by organized sports leagues that are governed by adults.  As a result, these leagues reflect what adults believe the game of soccer should be like for children.  By comparison, take a walk through the streets of Brazil, children of all ages play pick up soccer games in the streets without any adult intervention.  They derive their pleasure and love for the game by participating.

The micro soccer program was adopted by TCSA to allow the children to touch the ball more often, play both offense and defense throughout the game and play more of the game!

What can you expect?

Your child will continue to practice and play two evenings each week.

  • U6 - Tuesdays and Thursdays 5:30-6:30.  Practice will take place for 30-minutes each evening and this age group will then play a game each evening with 2 12-minute halves and a 3-minute half time.

Uniforms:

U6 and U8 players will continue to wear the reversible blue/white jersey which you can purchase at Southwest Designs.  U10 and up players can wear either their orange/white uniforms already purchased or can purchase a reversible orange/white jersey from Southwest Designs.

What about Saturday play?

Sometimes fielding teams for weekend games, either in Cortez or at other locations, can be difficult.  This year, we will be setting up traveling teams that will play on Saturdays.  Each team will be divided by gender and age group.  We will have U10 boys and girls, U12 boys and girls and U14 boys and girls.  A skills assessment day will be set up to place players on each team.  As a member of a traveling team, you and your child will be committing to weekend play as well as possible tournaments at the coach's discretion. If you are interested in placing your child on one of the traveling teams, please keep an eye on this website for the assessment date, or contact TCSA directly at tcsa@tricitysoccer.com.  If your child is placed on a traveling team, you will need to purchase the orange and white jersey uniforms with black shorts, black socks and white socks directly from Tri-City.
