CODE OF CONDUCT

PARENTS &
SPECTATORS

Parents and Spectators agree as follows:

  • Serve as positive role models.

  • Promote and instill good sportsmanship and teamwork.

  • Act in a way that prioritizes the interests of the players.

  • Strive to provide a positive experience for all players.

  • Ensure that their player respects fellow players, coaches, officials, and spectators.

  • Refrain from undermining coaches’ efforts during games and practices, and avoid coaching from the sidelines.

  • Avoid ridiculing or belittling players, coaches, or referees.

  • Make every effort to ensure their children attend team practices set by coaches, arrive punctually, and are picked up on time.

  • Inform the coach of any disabilities or health issues concerning their child’s safety.

  • Treat all players, spectators, coaches, and referees fairly and with respect.

  • Avoid confrontations with opposing players, spectators, coaches, or referees.

  • Refrain from questioning a referee’s decisions.

  • Remain drug and alcohol-free at all events.

  • Abstain from using tobacco products during practices and games.

  • Adhere to all rules, policies, procedures, and decisions established by TCSA and the Board of Directors.

REFEREES

Referees agree as follows:

  • Shows up on time for the start of the game, check the field for safe conditions, do player check-ins, and start the game on time. 

  • Ensure the laws of soccer as defined by the International Football Association Board (IFAB) and further defined by rules, policies, and procedures set by the TCSA Board of Directors are followed and consistently applied.

  • Explain any violations of soccer laws by players or coaches to the teams immediately after a violation occurs.

  • Stops the game immediately if any concussion is suspected. Does not let the player to continue playing until a medical professional clears the player to play. 

  • Does not engage in any confrontational arguments with parents, coaches, or players.

  • Keeps the game fair, safe, and fun.

  • Immediately report any verbal or physical abuse from coaches, parents, or players to the TCSA Referee Director.

PLAYERS

Players are expected to:

  • Exhibit good sportsmanship and teamwork consistently. Adhere to the guidance of the Coach and Assistant Coach.

  • Show respect towards all Coaches, Players, League Officials, Referees, and Spectators.

  • Make every effort to arrive on time and be prepared for all games and practices.

  • Abide by soccer laws relevant to their age group.

 

Players are prohibited from:

  • Using abusive or profane language.

  • Taunting or humiliating any fellow player.

  • Disputing a referee's decision.

  • Misusing, mistreating, or damaging any TCSA equipment or property.

COACHES

Coaches must consistently support TCSA's dedication to good sportsmanship, teamwork, honesty, loyalty, courage, and respect for authority. Additionally, coaches should remain mindful of the physical and emotional well-being of their team members.

 

To uphold these values, coaches agree to the following commitments:

  • Act as positive role models.

  • Promote and cultivate the principles of good sportsmanship and teamwork among their players.

  • Conduct themselves in a manner that prioritizes the best interests of the players.

  • Strive to create a positive experience for all players.

  • Ensure that every player receives equal playing time across all positions.

  • Foster respect and good sportsmanship, irrespective of the game's outcome.

  • Treat players, parents, spectators, opposing coaches, and league officials with dignity.

  • Provide instruction that is constructive and encouraging.

  • Refrain from ridiculing or belittling players, fellow coaches, or referees.

  • Not tolerate any behavior that jeopardizes a child's health or well-being.

  • Teach the game of soccer to the best of their abilities.

  • Always maintain respectful and appropriate physical contact with players. Positive interactions like high fives and handshakes are encouraged. However, any form of physical punishment, including spanking, intimate contact, or corporal punishment, is strictly forbidden.

  • Refrain from using tobacco products, drugs, and alcohol during practices or games.

  • Recognize the importance of demonstrating fundamental skills in soccer and TCSA’s league policies, and agree to attend any required coaches’ meetings or skill sessions organized by the TCSA Board of Directors.

  • Adhere to all rules, policies, and procedures established or endorsed by TCSA and comply with decisions made by the TCSA Board of Directors.
